With the Andrian Rubeno Lagrein, the cooperative winery Andrian has created a robust and distinctive South Tyrolean Lagrein, sourced directly from the classic Gries growing zone in Bolzano. At approximately 250 meters above sea level, the Lagrein vines thrive in ideal terrain. Lagrein requires more warmth and sun to ripen. The subsoil here is also different, with a character that retains less water, thus containing more gravel and less clay than white grapes. These conditions guarantee an excellent base for a full-bodied South Tyrolean Lagrein.

A smooth and fruity Lagrein

Lagrein is the typical blue grape from this region. Eight percent of Alto Adige's plantings consist of Lagrein. Andrian markets two types of Lagrein: a fruity, quick-drinking version and a powerful, robust version. Rubino is the smooth, fruity version of these two. The Andrian Rubeno Lagrein is the base Lagrein from the South Tyrolean winery Andrian and is made from the South Tyrolean Lagrein grape variety. As a 100 percent Lagrein from the classic growing zone of Gries Bozen, the Rubeno is a typical and characteristic South Tyrolean Lagrein. Fermentation takes place in a steel vat. The biological acid decomposition and six months of aging take place in traditional oak barrels to produce a full-bodied and especially characteristic Lagrein wine.

Enjoy the scent and flavors of Andrian Rubeno Lagrein

In the glass, the Andrian Lagrein Rubeno, as its name suggests, displays a dark ruby to garnet color. The aroma is typical of the variety: ripe cherries, forest fruits such as blackberries and cassis, and violets, accompanied by slightly bitter chocolate notes and delicate earthy tones. Full-bodied on the palate, with a medium structure and soft, silky tannins, as well as harmoniously integrated acidity and a lingering finish. This robust base wine from the Andrian winery pairs well with hearty South Tyrolean specialties, savory pasta dishes with meat sauce, and all types of meat, as well as hard cheeses such as Parmesan.
