The Bernard Old Vine Chenin Blanc Bellingham is one of the gems of the "Bernard" series. This series takes its name from Bernard Podlashuk, Bellingham's founder and former winemaker. Bernard knew better than anyone how to handle the grapes and persevered until the wines were truly perfect.
Made from the oldest Chenin Blanc vines
Old Vine stands for "old vines." Simply put, this wine is made from old vines. Over the years, these plants have been able to develop exceptionally well. Yields are decreasing, but the quality is constantly improving! These grapes are hand-picked. Fermentation takes place plot by plot, after which the wine is aged for a year on its own lees in French oak barrels. Some of these barrels are even new French oak, giving the wine an extra boost.
What does The Bernard Old Vine Chenin Blanc taste like?
This top-notch wine is golden yellow with a green sheen. The aroma is very pleasant and a true Chenin Blanc. Beautiful aromas of tropical fruit, melon, and vanilla come from the oak aging. The taste is full and creamy. Rich nuances of tropical and yellow fruit are perfectly balanced by fresh acidity. The oak aging gives the tannins a silky smoothness and a long, mild finish. One of our favorites, this The Bernard Old Vine Chenin Blanc Bellingham!
