As its name suggests, this wine has a strong lemongrass character in both its flavor and aroma. It's a fresh, yet very approachable wine. The goal of Mooiplaas's Collection series is to offer excellent quality wines at a fair price. Considerable effort has gone into creating packaging that both catches the eye and offers the customer a glimpse into the intriguing flavor profile. Lemongrass is a Sauvignon Blanc-driven wine, with characteristic tropical and green fig flavors supported by lively acidity and minerality. The palate is well-balanced with a pleasantly lingering finish.
Quality wines from Mooiplaas for 50 years
Mooiplaas Wine Estate and Private Nature Reserve boasts unspoiled natural beauty. Owned and managed by Tielman and Louis Roos, the Mooiplaas vineyards are nestled on steep slopes of ancient, mineral-rich soils in the Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch, overlooking Cape Town. Mooiplaas is a historic and traditionally working wine estate, purchased by Nicolaas Roos in 1963. His two sons, Tielman, a winegrower (born 1980) and Louis, a winemaker (born 1983), joined him. In 2013, they celebrated 50 years on the farm. The farm's history dates back to 1806, and the estate's manor house—a national monument—is an impressive example of Cape Dutch architecture.
The aromas of Mooiplaas The Lemongrass Sauvignon Blanc
Tielman and Louis produce a range of environmentally friendly wines rooted in tradition and artisanal techniques to reflect the unique terroir. As soon as you open this bottle of white wine, you'll immediately smell lemongrass, which is how this The Lemongrass Sauvignon Blanc gets its name. Mooiplaas Winery is a unique winery that embraces modernity, and that's a wonderful thing. We also discovered hints of passion fruit, lime zest, and gooseberries on the nose. This fresh style continues in the flavor of this The Lemongrass Sauvignon Blanc from Mooiplaas Winery. The palate has good body and firm structure, with a lovely fresh attack of apple, melon, gooseberries, and lemongrass.
