This is due to the beautiful dark color of the red wines produced from the Nero d'Avola grape. Today, things have changed, and top-notch wines are made from Nero d'Avola. Often, the leading wines are also aged in oak to enhance their fullness and power. Oak aging is highly beneficial to this indigenous grape and is praised by the international wine press.

What does a Nero d'Avola taste like?

So, what does a Nero d'Avola wine actually taste like? First, the dark red color is immediately noticeable. This is the hallmark of the Nero d'Avola grape. The aroma often offers notes of red cherries, ripe plums, pomegranate, and often a touch of spice. The taste is smooth and even smoother, with plenty of finesse thanks to the abundance of black fruit. On the back of the tongue, it often reveals nuances of tobacco, coffee, spices, and a touch of chocolate.
