The 2018 Barolo vintage received a score of 92 points, indicating excellent quality. The wines from this year are described as still powerful in their tannins and need time to fully mature.

What a king's wine this Essenze Barolo from the Terre da Vino winery is—a truly magnificent wine. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of around 300 meters, providing the perfect climate for a top-notch Barolo. The vines have been here for years and absorb plenty of nutrients from the soil, giving this Essenze Barolo Terredavino its own unique style.

Long-term wood aging for Essenze Barolo

This Barolo is the result of a collaborative project involving 180 winegrowers, who dedicate only a portion of their property to the project. The vineyards are nestled in the enchanting landscape of the Langhe region in Piedmont. The wines are vinified separately, following strict protocols. Modern technology and the expertise of generations of winemakers are utilized. "Essenze" Barolo di Barolo is grown in the vineyards of the Barolo sub-area of the Barolo municipality in the Langhe region. Produced with pure, carefully selected Nebbiolo grapes, it macerates on the skins for twenty days before undergoing malolactic fermentation. It then ages for 24 months in small wooden barrels. But that's not enough, according to the winemakers, as it then spends an additional six months in the bottle to ensure that every bottle of Barolo is top-quality. And it is, and for this price, it's unbelievable.

This Barolo is a very intense ruby-red wine with a wonderfully complex aroma. We noted violets, vanilla, and tobacco. On the palate, it is dry and warm, with excellent structure. The lingering finish reveals ripe black and red fruit and a distinct balsamic note. A Barolo that made a lasting impression not only on us, but also on the members of the Gambero Rosso jury. They once again awarded it the highest score of "3 glasses." A value for money you should definitely look for!
