The grapes grow on a plateau on the edge of the city.
- Location / origin: The Herrenholz and Praschen vineyards are located near Vienna, in eastern Austria.
- Soil: The subsoil consists of calcareous sandstone from the Flysch zone. Vegetation is left between the rows, except during periods of extreme drought.
- Vineyards: For the 2024 vintage, the vines were approximately 24 years old, with about 4,000 plants per hectare.
Gentle processing and temperature control keep the aromatic style clear.
- Harvest & pressing: The grapes are selected in the vineyard, destemmed, and crushed. After about 2 hours of skin contact, a gentle pneumatic pressing follows.
- Fermentation & storage: Fermentation takes place at around 18 °C. The wine is then kept in stainless steel tanks, which allow the fruity and fresh flavor to shine.
In the 2024 vintage, every component of the blend has a distinct role.
- 60% Riesling – Vienna: Brings aromatic fruit and refreshing acidity.
- 20% Grüner Veltliner – Vienna: Provides the slightly peppery spice.
- 20% Pinot Blanc – Vienna: Gives the wine body and a rounded structure.
