Vintage Report
Description
This "entry-level" Chianti from Barone Ricasoli is called the Brolio Chianti, a Classico quality. We can certainly write "quality" in capital letters, because this range of wines is truly outstanding! Barone Francesco Ricasoli has flawlessly led this impressive winery to the pinnacle of Italian wine culture since 1993. His wines regularly receive awards worldwide. With 240 hectares of vineyards and 1200 hectares of land, Castello di Brolio is the largest and oldest winery in the Chianti Classico region and one of the four oldest family-owned wineries in the world. Research, creativity, and a commitment to quality define this exceptional winery, as does respect for the terroir, soil, diverse locations, and history. With its 1000-year-old winemaking tradition, the modernly managed Barone di Ricasoli winery occupies a leading position in many respects.
The best vineyards of Barone
The vineyards that produce the grapes for the Brolio label are planted in five geological areas at altitudes between 280 meters and 480 meters, with varying exposures. Vineyard soils vary greatly, but all are strewn with stony fragments that add mineral richness. This enhances the structure of the Chianti Classico vintage. The blend consists of 80 percent Sangiovese, supplemented by 15 percent Merlot and 5 percent Cabernet Sauvignon. After harvest, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 24 degrees Celsius, with 14 to 16 days of skin contact. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for ten months. The beautiful aromas of Brolio Chianti Classico
This way, you get only the finest juice in the bottle, with beautiful aromas of cherries, raspberries, and roses, with a light vanilla note in the background. An elegant palate characterized by the necessary liveliness and freshness, with cherries and pleasant acidity. The finish of this Brolio Chianti Classico is slightly firm and has some subtle tannins.Product details
