In the Paardeberg wine region, specifically in the Swartland region, lie the Busy Bee vineyards, managed by Babylon's Peak Winery. The winery has a very long history, as the fourth generation is now at the helm. The wines are still made with great respect for nature, which is why Busy Bee wines have been developed. It's an ode to the bees, which are so important to viticulture. Without these tiny insects, there wouldn't be wines like this red Busy Bee. The winery and its beautiful vineyards are situated on the slopes of the Paardeberg between Malmesbury and Paarl. Winemaker Stephan Basson and his father are now making truly exquisite wines together, and the quality has skyrocketed in recent years. We are therefore more than proud to be able to sell Busy Bee wines.

The vineyards for this Busy Bee red wine are family-owned and belong to the Babylon's Peak winery. The vineyards are renowned and infamous in the area, as the granite content in the soil is higher than anywhere else. This allows the grapes to develop perfectly and develop their beautiful, powerful characteristics. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 700 meters, creating a unique climate for the grapes. Two red grapes, Shiraz and Mourvedre, are grown for this Busy Bee red wine, as well as a white grape, Viognier. This creates a unique interplay and results in a very ripe red wine. Once ripe, the grapes are harvested by hand and subject to strict quality control. After pressing, this Busy Bee red wine undergoes a light oak aging process to enhance its strength, resulting in a unique glass of depth and richness.

What does Busy Bee red wine taste like?

It's truly a unique piece of craftsmanship! This Busy Bee Red Blend is an SMV, or Syrah, Mourvèdre, Viognier—yes, you read that right—a red wine made with a white grape. This Viognier gives this red wine a unique flavor. This spectacle begins the moment you open the bottle, as we smell notes of black fruit and light spices. In the glass, this red wine is a beautiful ruby ​​red with a purple rim. The aroma is rich in black and red fruit, but also hints of spices, vanilla, and white peach. The palate of this Busy Bee Red Blend is soft and refined, with a wealth of fruit such as strawberries, cherries, plums, and berries. On the back of the palate, beautiful nuances of spices and cedarwood, with a hint of vanilla.
