The jewel, showpiece, or whatever you like, of the Mercurey region is this red Château de Chamirey. It's made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes, hand-harvested and then aged in oak barrels! Just like with their white wine, Château de Chamirey has acquired a Premier Cru monopoly. In other words, they are the only ones to own this Premier Cru. A unique wine that can only be marketed by this estate.

The showpiece of Chateau de Chamirey

For generations, the Devillards have owned four estates in Burgundy, stretching from north to south, from the Côte de Nuits to the Mâconnais. The Château de Chamirey vineyards are located in Mercurey. They are the largest producer of white Mercurey and are partially comprised of Premier Cru vineyards. The Premier Cru "La Mission" is a monopoly of the estate. This means that the entire Premier Cru is owned by Château de Chamirey. No other estate can market a wine from this Cru. The quality of this Cru is exceptional, and Domaine Devillard dreams of this vineyard one day becoming one of the first Grands Crus of the Côte Chalonnaise.

15 months of oak aging for Chateau de Chamirey Mercurey Les Ruelles 1er Cru

The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and brought to the cellar. Before alcoholic fermentation, a cold pre-fermentation takes place for four to six days. This is followed by a full maceration period of fifteen days. After this, the wine is aged in traditional Burgundian barrels for fifteen months. Only French oak barrels are used for this process. This impressive wine is a true sensation for your palate! The aroma already reveals ripe hints of vanilla, but above all, plenty of sweet fruit, strawberries, and blueberries. The palate of this Château de Chamirey Mercurey Les Ruelles 1er Cru is powerful and rich, ripe and juicy, soft and creamy, but above all, deliciously full and rich.
