The young winery Creation Estate

Creation Estate is a relatively young winery located in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, a sub-region within the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Twenty kilometers further lies Hermanus, the coastal town on Walker Bay, also known as the whale-watching capital of South Africa. Besides the high chance of whale watching, the area boasts an ideal climate for viticulture. Warm days that don't exceed thirty degrees Celsius, a fresh sea breeze, and vineyards situated slightly higher than most vineyards in the Hemel-en-Aarde region create the ideal ingredients for quality wines. The grapes are given the opportunity to ripen optimally here, while retaining their fresh acidity thanks to the cool nights. But the soil is also crucial. The vineyards have a clay-derived slate soil called Bokkeveld. This prevents water stress and makes the vines less vigorous, contributing to the slow ripening of the grapes. In short, Creation Estate has a unique terroir in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. And with their knowledge, passion and dedication they know how to translate this into full-bodied, elegant wines with plenty of ripe fruit aromas, fresh acidity and beautiful minerality.

The aroma and taste of Syrah Grenache from Creation Estate

After a careful, hand-harvested grape, the grapes are destemmed and crushed. Traditional fermentation on the skins then takes place, followed by malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The wine is aged for fourteen months in oak barrels, 25 percent of which are new and the rest in second- and third-year barrels. Before bottling, the wine is lightly filtered to preserve as many aromas and flavors as possible. The result is aromas of black fruit, pepper, and black olives on the nose. This red wine has a fantastic flavor. Full-bodied and powerful with hints of tapenade, black pepper, and sweet black fruit. The intense and long finish completes this wine.
