This is Jean Luc Colombo's king's wine, a little angel that every wine lover simply must try. So it's no wonder that this top wine from the Condrieu region bears the name Amour de Dieu, which translates to "Love of God." And it absolutely is, a wine straight from heaven. But let's begin with the founding of the Jean Luc Colombo winery in 1986. Mr. Colombo started in the Cornas wine region, at the northern tip of the Côtes du Rhône. The winery has since grown and is surrounded by vineyards, offering stunning views. His daughter, Laure, now also works in the family business and is already considered the rising star of the Rhône Valley. We are proud to sell Jean Luc Colombo wines, because, let's be honest, there are no finer wines from this region.
The old Condrieu vineyard of Jean Luc Colombo
This wine is made entirely from Viognier grapes sourced from the Condrieu wine region. This old vineyard produces some of the most beautiful bunches in the area. Thanks to hard work from the very beginning at the Jean-Luc Colombo winery, the vineyard continues to flourish. The ancient, thick trunks have deep roots in the nutrient-rich soil structure, allowing the vines to draw abundant nutrients and imbue the grapes with unparalleled beauty. The climate is perfect for Viognier, with plenty of warmth from the sun and cooling wind. When the harvest is perfectly ripe, all the bunches are hand-harvested and carefully transported in small crates to the Jean-Luc Colombo winery. Here, the bunches for this Condrieu wine are gently pressed and aged for a very long time in oak barrels. It's going to be a treat, we can tell you!
Full and very powerful this Amour de Dieu Condrieu
It's truly a joy to drink such a beautiful and complex white wine. Pouring, we see a beautiful golden-yellow color with a subtle golden shimmer. This promises something; all our senses are stimulated. It has a rich aroma, offering hints of dried apricots, peaches, cedarwood, vanilla, and numerous spices. Swirl the glass vigorously, and you'll also smell a swarm of grapefruit and a touch of toast. When we taste the wine, we imagine ourselves amidst beautiful vineyards under the French sun! Ripe yellow fruit attack with subtle spice. On the back of the palate, a combination of cedarwood and a touch of vanilla, along with lovely minerality. This is an absolute gem that can age for years in the bottle.
