As you walk through the impressive Mapu Merlot vineyards, you'll be amazed. The view is dazzling and breathtaking. Baroness Philippine De Rothschild clearly put her winemaking expertise to good use when purchasing these vineyards. It was this Rothschild descendant who purchased a large number of vineyards in the Maule Valley in the mid-1990s to establish a new winery. Now, over 25 years later, the wines continue to amaze, as the price-quality ratio is exorbitant.

The vineyards of Mapu Merlot

The vines, laden with Merlot grapes, grow in the Maule Valley. This wine region encompasses the southern part of the vast Central Valley, a wine region south of the capital, Santiago. Chile is exceptionally well-suited for wine growing because its natural conditions are ideal for grape cultivation. The relative proximity of the ocean provides coolness and freshness, while the Andes on its eastern flank act as a natural barrier.

The aroma and taste of Mapu Merlot
