A real winner, if you ask us, a wine with a delightful character that's particularly creamy and full-bodied. Montbiset Winery is located in the village of Saint Lucia, a few kilometers from the city of Montpellier. The vineyards for this white Chardonnay are spread throughout the surrounding large wine region, the Languedoc. Thanks to the diverse vineyards, Montbiset's winemaker can consistently produce high-quality wines. But as he himself says, he's at the very highest level in the region. We couldn't agree more; what a magnificent wine, and at this price.
Wood aging for the Chardonnay
The Chardonnay bunches grow in the ideal climate. Plenty of strong sunshine ensures the bunches reach their optimal ripeness. The wind from the sea is also crucial for maintaining sufficient freshness in the grapes. This ideal combination results in a robust bunch that is partially harvested by hand at the end of the growing process. Upon arrival at Montbiset, the bunches are inspected again before being pressed, a crucial step in obtaining exceptionally pure and ripe juice. This is followed by oak aging in the Montbiset cellars. The wine becomes full-bodied and creamy, with abundant tropical fruit.
Full and very powerful, this Montbiset Réserve Chardonnay Heritage
Opening the bottle, we're immediately surprised by the beautiful notes of hazelnuts, tropical fruit, and a hint of cedarwood. We take a large glass and swirl the golden juice; it clings to the glass, revealing a wonderfully thick texture. Once in the mouth, the palate is pampered by ripe nuances of mango, cedarwood, butterscotch, and yellow apple. Spices and woody notes settle on the cheeks. Wow, what a gem! Full and creamy with just the right balance.
