A wine born from a dream of winemaker Jean Marc, the name Reveur literally means dreamer or dreamer. Well, Jean Marc's dream has become reality. He founded the Reveur winery in the south of France, specifically in the French wine region of Pays d'Oc. Here, Reveur's old vineyards are planted in a highly nutrient-rich soil structure. It consists primarily of gravel, clay, and dark sandy soil, allowing the Chardonnay vines to develop very deep roots. This allows the plants to easily absorb moisture and thus benefit from the soil's natural strength. But it doesn't stop there, because this dream is long-lived...
Wood aging for the Reveu Grande Reserve Chardonnay
The Chardonnay bunches are raised with great care. This is partly done in the sun because the slopes where the Chardonnay bunches grow are south-facing. But thanks to the careful attention of Reveur's winemaker, the bunches become full and highly complex. Only when the harvest has reached ideal ripeness are the bunches partially harvested by hand. This always takes place early in the morning to protect the harvest from oxidation and bruising during transport to Reveur. Here, the Chardonnay bunches are gently pressed, and the golden juice is then aged for several months in oak barrels. This period of oak aging ensures that this Grande Reserve Chardonnay lives up to its name.
Full and very powerful, this Reveu Chardonnay
As we open the bottle of Grande Reserve Chardonnay and close our eyes, we know for sure: this wine will be a magnificent dream. Its aroma is full of depth, immediately giving us powerful notes of vanilla, peach, and cedar. In the glass, it shimmers a beautiful ochre yellow with a golden sheen. On the nose, this white wine gives us impressions of tropical fruit, vanilla, peach, and creamy apricots. On the palate, it's a feast; the tongue is striped by a thick structure of yellow fruit, interspersed with vanilla and spice. On the cheeks, there's a touch of cedar and room for yellow cream. The finish is long and very well-balanced with a fresh note. The balance between powerful Chardonnay notes and fresh notes is perfect. This will be a dream that will last a long time.
