This red wine uses Carmenere and Petit Verdot grapes from the Finca de Apalta in Arcangel de Marchique in the Colchaqua Valley. The soil structure, rich in organic matter, results in a unique harvest. The perfect climate, allowing the sun to do its work, and the breeze from the Tinguirrica River, which cools the grapes, make everything unique. All this, combined with the old vines, forms the basis for this superb wine. All the grapes are harvested by hand and then aged for a full eighteen months in oak barrels. New and unused barrels are used for almost all of the wine, allowing this Montes Purple Angel to express its rich flavor.

What a showpiece, a red wine with a unique style, sourced from the finest vineyards of Montes. Let this red wine breathe for at least a few hours beforehand, and it's best to decant it. The aroma is overwhelming and incredibly rich. We've noted a few: plenty of black fruit, light spices, vanilla, cedar, leather, chocolate, and vanilla. Later, as the wine truly unleashes, we also noted subtle hints of mocha and cocoa. The palate is enchanting, with a richness of fresh, ripe black fruit on the palate, interspersed with spices and vanilla. At the back of the throat and on the palate, a light swirl of sweet spices, dark chocolate, and a touch of toffee.
