Aaldering Pinotage, the flagship wine of Aaldering Estate. This superb Pinotage red wine has already received numerous awards, and we expect many more to come! Aaldering wines are inextricably linked to the Netherlands. This is thanks to the Dutch couple Fons and Marianne Aaldering. They wanted to turn their passion into a new profession. In 2004, they purchased over 24 hectares of land in Stellenbosch and established Aaldering Estate. More than 15 years later, Aaldering wines are known worldwide for their unparalleled quality and variety.

The Pinotage grape is the red grape of South Africa. This grape thrives in South Africa, making it incredibly versatile. When a top-quality wine is made from Pinotage, it's immediately a top-quality wine! A prime example is this Aaldering Pinotage. The grapes grow on 15-year-old vines. Ripening proceeds steadily despite the blazing sun. All vines are planted facing the wind, allowing a refreshing breeze to blow over the grapes all day long. This combination is perfect for Pinotage. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, ensuring strict selection before pressing. After a gentle pressing, releasing only the finest juice, this red wine is aged for 22 months in oak barrels. One-third is new French oak and two-thirds is used French oak. This creates a perfect balance between power and suppleness.

The aroma and taste of the Aaldering Pinotage

The result? A fantastic red wine that we're absolutely charmed by. The color is deep dark red with an almost black rim. The nose offers pleasant aromas of ripe red fruit, blackcurrants, light spices, licorice, and a touch of vanilla at the finish. The taste is phenomenal; what a gem this red wine is! Wonderful, sultry nuances of blackcurrants, blackberries, ripe strawberries, cloves, and soft vanilla. The finish has beautiful tannins and is silky smooth. A delicious red wine to pair with a true South African braai.
