This red wine from Aaldering is made from 100% Shiraz grapes. It just so happens that we love this grape and had high expectations for this red wine. Well, those expectations were met! What a fantastic Shiraz this Aaldering is! The deep black color already makes us suspect we're dealing with a "big" one. The aroma immediately reveals the influences of the Shiraz grape. Aromas of ripe black fruit combined with spicy notes of cloves and white pepper. A mild hint of vanilla finishes. The flavor is powerful and intense, with rich nuances of black fruit like blackberries and cherries, supported by spice notes, with white pepper taking center stage. The finish is powerful and spicy, yet refined and smooth.

The best Shiraz wine from Aaldering

This red Aaldering Shiraz has already won numerous awards at various national and international competitions. We're not surprised, considering we just tasted it. Aaldering's wines have both a South African and Dutch flavor. The owners of Aaldering Estate are Fons and Marianne Aaldering, a Dutch entrepreneurial couple eager to forge a new path. They achieved this in 2004 and have now been the proud owners of their self-established estate for over 15 years.

The aroma and taste of the Aaldering Shiraz

In 2004, Fons and Marianne purchased over 24 hectares of land in Stellenbosch, South Africa's premier wine region. They planted entirely new vines here, which are now 15 years old and have generated a rich terroir. The Shiraz grapes for this red wine are all harvested by hand to select only the finest fruit for the wines. For Fons Aaldering, only the best is good enough for his wines. After a gentle pressing, in which only the first juice is used for this red wine, the wine is aged for 20 months in oak barrels. During these months, the wine develops considerable suppleness and a pleasant power. After bottling, it is aged for several months in the bottle in Aaldering's cellars.
